Heads of Welfare and Education Divisions in Local Municipalities

There are hardly any other fields in a country’s authorities that have such a strong impact on the lives of every Israeli citizen as those of education and welfare- many issues within these fields are deeply interrelated. We believe that connecting between heads of these divisions in different municipalities can significantly improve residents’ lives and impact the work of municipalities in a positive way.

While there are a number of programs tailored for these divisions separately, there are very few that put them together. According to Dganit Fuks, Chief of training for Education and Welfare Heads in municipalities (Ministry of Interior), the need for such a program is outstanding.

The program curriculum will include:

  • Developing of a systematic joint vision of education and welfare.

  • In-depth learning about the Jewish value perspective on weak populations and attitude to the poor.

  • A deep exploration of participants Jewish and Israeli identity.

  • Establishing participants’ vision-driven thinking towards a tolerant, just and democratic society in Israel and helping them develop professional norms and practices that would create an environment for such a society.

  • Encouraging participants’ respect for Israel’s Jewish diversity and inspiring them to practice and promote pluralism, understanding and mutual respect.

The program includes 11 four-hour long educational sessions, one weekend seminar, a 9-hour educational field trip and a 5 -day trip to Odessa.
