Mayors, CEOs and Heads of Councils

Operating in the framework of Kolot Leadership Empowerment Center - home to study groups that seeks to influence targeted areas of Israeli society through promoting Kolot’s vision of a tolerant, inclusive, value based and democratic Jewish state- the year long study program trains hand-picked Mayors, CEO's and Chairmen of varying Israeli cities and municipalities, teaches them a shared language based on a deep text study, helps build meaningful partnerships and develop new ways of thinking and responding to issues critical to their work.

Program Goals:

  • Inspire participants to explore on a deeper level their Jewish and Israeli identity- shape and verify their value-set and vision of a Jewish leader.

  • Develop participants’ vision-driven thinking towards a tolerant, just and democratic society in Israel so they develop professional norms and practices that would create an environment for such a society.

  •  Encourage participants’ respect for Israel’s Jewish diversity and inspire them to practice and promote pluralism, understanding and mutual respect.

Activities

The program applies Kolot’s expertise in creating unique subject matter and pedagogical techniques to generate a vibrant, creative and meaningful learning process. It addresses critical questions about the unique nature of Israel as a democratic and Jewish state, the meaning of Judaism in the 21st century, Jewish diversity, the role of leadership and sovereignty and equips participants with the tools to express their Jewish values in their professional and personal lives.

The program focuses on the following themes:

  • Issues and dilemmas involved with social gaps inside local and city councils and between them.

  • Ethical foundations and practical approaches to partnership.

  • Morals needed for managing a local council and key value-issues involved with decision-making.

  • Managing a space shared by different ethnic and social groups– ways to resolve tensions and promote coexistence and shared societal principles.

  • An ethical perspective on resource distribution– dilemmas and considerations.

The year-long study process includes 14 three-hour long educational sessions, a weekend seminar and a 9-day educational trip to the USA.
